Still-Life Self-Portrait

Dorian Keeffe, Lucretia, Under Pressure, oil on canvas

For this exhibition we gave our artists the assignment to create a still life that acts as a self-portrait. The still life might depict an assemblage of personally meaningful objects, objects that tell the story of a significant life experience, or objects that more symbolically convey something about the artist. Still-life paintings use the arrangement of particular objects to hint at larger narratives; for this exhibition, our artists use this ubiquitous genre to tell their own personal stories.
