Steve Bennett

Steve Bennett is a Cambridge, Massachusetts visual artist. He began taking photographs more than 40 years ago, in the age of film, and transitioned to digital photography in the late 90s.

Bennett’s lens-based artwork has been shown in numerous juried exhibitions across the United States. His work has also been displayed at Google’s Cambridge offices and can be found in software, biotech, and financial service companies in the Boston area.

My visual art falls into two categories: “the world as seen” and the “world reimagined.” The former includes traditional candid street photographs, still-life compositions, detailed close-up images of natural and human-made subjects barely discernible to the human eye, and expansive landscapes that inspire a sense of the sublime.

My “world reimagined” artwork consists of photo-based abstracts and composites transformed through digital tools and techniques. I often blend architectural, infrastructure, and technological images with human and natural elements. The resulting work is an invitation to explore alternative realities filled with mystery, suspense, and surprise as viewers navigate between “what is” and “what if” and between the predictable and the unpredictable.
