John Hunter received his BFA in Studio Art from Vanderbilt University. He currently lives in Boston.

John is an adopted Korean American who was raised in a suburb of Boston. John tries to offer insight to the growing number of individuals who are unsure which race or culture they hold loyalty to. In an age where the world is growing smaller by the day there are more and more individuals without prescribed heritage. What do these individuals utilize to secure a sense of belonging? What aspect of their lives do they anchor their identity to? As a Korean-American with a fascination in Japan, John often finds himself identifying with different aspects of all three cultures; despite a volatile history between the nations. John is in the process of creating a body of work that specifically questions the supposed importance of race and cultural loyalty.
