Cory Munro Shea is an artist and arts administrator living and working in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She primarily works in digital media, but has recently expanded her work into the third dimension. Shea's installation Loss of Security explores themes of security, and the cyclical nature of its presence and absence in all of our lives.
Loss of Security was created in the summer and fall of 2016. I started in July and wrapped up in the middle of November (coincidentally just around the election). This installation holds the idea that security runs on a cycle. For a period of time, one thinks they have it - it's soon lost, then gained back and then given to others. This cycle is personal and can be identified through many facets of our lives. The simplistic design gives viewers no particular space or feeling of time. No one is safe from the Loss of Security.
