Three artists offer three very different takes on the city in Boston In Common, 13FOREST Gallery's summer show.

Featuring vivid landscapes by Sean Flood, Deb Hickey and Charles Tersolo, the exhibit opens with a reception on Thursday July 16 from 7-9 pm and runs through September 11.

Sean Flood celebrates the neighborhoods and back alleys of Boston in energetic oils on canvas.  His representational works  have an abstract quality that convey a streetwise view of the city.  Flood, who earned his BFA from the Art Institute of Boston, has shown his work in group and solo exhibits throughout New England and created commissioned pieces for entities including Boston Center for the Arts.

Deb Hickey combines a wild mix of downtown landmarks and pop culture references in her phototransfers and encaustic mixed media pieces.  A photographer by training, she paints and etches into phototransfers on wood to capture the city in every color of the rainbow.  Hickey, who received a BFA in Photography from Rhode Island School of Design and studied at the Art Institute of Boston, has exhibited her work throughout the region, including several shows at 13FOREST.

Charles Tersolo offers the most romantic views of Boston in his impressionistic oils on canvas. Frequently painted en plein air, Tersolo's works are notable for their strong colors and bold brush strokes. Tersolo has shown his work for the past five years, including shows in New York and Provincetown.

The July 16 opening reception for Boston in Common takes place as part of the Third Thursday series in East Arlington's Capitol Square. Founded one year ago, the series celebrates the eclectic shopping and dining scene on the Massachusetts Avenue shopping blocks between the Capitol Theater and Windsor Street through events at area businesses.

An artists reception and talk for Boston in Common is scheduled for Wednesday August 26 from 7-9 pm, with the short talk beginning at 8 pm.
